It's not completely dead...

The online F1 community is constantly humming with interesting topics and trivia being discussed – even during the off-season! Thankfully, Monza Gorilla readers can simply check in here instead of trawling through online discussion boards for their fix of high-quality F1 and motorsport content.

Here are some of the trend-setting stories and discussions from the third week of December:

1). Lewis can play the piano

The four-time world champion appeared on an Italian talk show this week to perform Adele’s “Someone Like You” on piano – further emphasizing the immense talent this man possesses. Whether or not Adele’s music requires skill is for another discussion, we suppose.

In Italy. The land of Ferrari. The jokes almost write themselves!

2). Vettel’s smiley faces

Much like fighter pilots and their kills, some F1 drivers and teams insist on carrying small mementos to remind them of wins from the past. A picture surfaced online this week which showed what kind of system that Sebastian Vettel used back in 2011 – arguably a year where poor Seb simply couldn’t keep track of all the pesky wins he’d racked up.

More than 10 smileys appeared in there that year

3). Ron the Lollypop Man

Micro-management at its finest

Ron Dennis headed up McLaren for decades and made a ludicrous amount of money doing it. It wasn’t all glitz, glamour and signing awful engine manufacturers, however – here’s Ron doing the intern’s job back in McLaren’s championship-winning days!

4). Mercedes are about to break the 1000hp barrier (again)

Ladies and gents: The 2014, 15, 16, 17 and probably 18 world champion,

Mercedes have destroyed the opposition every year since the 1.6l V6 Turbo engine became mandatory, and for what feels like the 3rd year running, they’ve announced that they’re approaching the 1000hp barrier with their engine. Stay tuned as next year they’ll be announcing this all over again! While you wait, why not place a bet on Mercedes to win next year..?
