China – on its head

This weekend we were treated to an extremely unpredictable race that pretty much proves that our previous article is a load of rubbish… Oops! Though we weren’t counting on such a well-timed safety car for Red Bull during the race… Or Hamilton’s (comparative) lack of form.

Can Ferrari maintain their strong form this year? It is clear that there has been a minor shift at the front of the pack, with Ferrari appearing to be faster than the fabled Mercedes at 2 of the 3 circuits raced at this year so far.

Another close race please?

Baku, with its million mile-long straight and collection of medium-speed corners, looks to be a mixed bag. Since last year, the Ferrari has been the car to beat in slow to medium-speed corners, with the Mercedes racking up the biggest fines in the speed traps. We won’t bother predicting who will take the top spot, as the order seems to be less predictable this year than in the last 5 years or so.

If last year is anything to go by, Mercedes should be able to secure the Pole. Hamilton was a second clear of the Ferraris last year, and over half a second clear from his teammate. Could we see Mercedes taking their first win of the year?

Hopefully less of this though

It seems like Mercedes will be favourites again this weekend, judging by their performance at the first 2 Azerbaijan Grands Prix. However, if last year’s race is anything to go by, we may see another chaotic race garnished with dozens of overtakes – hopefully!
